Open hand Monument is the symbol of Chandigarh (peace) and I just loved this monument. It is situated at Sector 1 Chandigarh. Because high court and vidhan sabha is there, security is very tight here. You have to show your ID card to the security personnel to viait this monument. This monument has historic meaning and value. One of the few amazing facts of this monument is that it rotates 360° and the direction of the thumb shows the direction the wind.

Built in 1955 , this monument comes now in World heritage site. Open hand symbol made of metal and fixed on a bearing , it moves with wind direction in align to thumb position. Open hand symbol has a dove figure in its construction, which symbolizes peace. There are 3 times in a day to visit this place , 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 pm.

Located in the capitol complex, the open hand monument is the symbol of Chandigarh - highlighting the idea of mutual respect. The monument is the work of Le Corbusier and sits beside the iconic building of High Court. Although there is not something truly remarkable about it , one can pay a visit if near Rock Garden.

Beautifully crafted open hand welcoming all in Chandigarh. Near the Punjab and haryana high court on one side and Punjab state assembly on the other. Must visit place on your itinerary.
